The Cork Report Tasting Table for December 6, 2023 – Rosé Edition
With wines from Aurora, Benmarl, Billsboro, Buttonwood, Fjord, Good Harbor Knapp, Loew, Macari, Raphael, Sheldrake Point, Stony Lonesome, Thirsty Owl, Unionville, Ventosa and Wagner
Here’s another batch “Tasting Table” reviews as I continue to work my way through my tasting notebook — while also working on my 2024 editorial calendar (which is going to look quite a bit different, I think). This edition is all rosés.
As always, these are short, mostly unedited reviews of wines that I’ve tasted recently — more or less straight from my notebook.
All wines were tasted over the course of 2-5 days, depending.
Aurora Cellars 2022 Pinot Noir Rosé ($24*)
Leelanau Peninsula AVA (Michigan)
Ripe red fruit — mostly cherry and strawberry — aromas with apple and lemon peel, too. Nice weight with rounded edges. Subtle leesy complexity along with cherry, strawberry, and grapefruit flavors. Subtle tannins and balanced acidity. 88pts.
