The Cork Report Tasting Table for December 13, 2023 – Mixed Bag Edition
With wines from Big Cork, Buckel Family, Glenora, Harbes, Horton, Hosmer, Keuka Lake Vineyards, Modales, Montezuma, Raphael, Stony Lonesome, Sauvage Spectrum, Suhru, Toast, Ventosa, and Weis.
Today’s “Tasting Table” is a bit of a mixed bag, mostly sauvignon blanc and pet-nats.
As always, these are short, mostly unedited reviews of wines that I’ve tasted recently — more or less straight from my notebook.
All wines were tasted over the course of 2-5 days, depending.
Big Cork Vineyards 2022 Sauvignon Blanc ($29*)
Maryland
Delicate nose of underripe grapefruit, green papaya, and a little grass. Lower acid. Similar flavors — citrus and just-ripe tropical fruit. Good fruit concentration but lacks freshness. Expensive for what it is. 85pts.
