With the ripeness of the 2024 vintage up and down the East Coast, very few of the rosés I’m tasting this month lack flavor, but this Weis Vineyards 2024 Zweigelt Dry Rosé ($25*) still stands out for its balance and its flavor intensity.
The nose starts with floral aromas before ripe red berries—tart cherry, raspberry, and a little cranberry—take over with background hints of earth, rosehip, and spice. The concentrated, flavorful palate is medium-light in body but weighty in terms of flavor. That same melange of red berries mingles with spice and light savory-herbal notes—all with fresh acidity that gives is a bright, crunchy mouthfeel.
I love this kind of rosé on Thanksgiving, but it’d also be great with a burger or sticky barbecue chicken this summer, when the winery will release it for your enjoyment.
